„I declare the 2015–2016 Academic Year officially open”
The date 5 Ocotber 2015 will long remain in the memory of students, staff and guests invited to the Karkonosze College in Jelenia Góra (KPSW). Yesterday we celebrated the Official Opening of the Academic Year 2015-2016. The Rector-Senior of KPSW prof. dr hab. Henryk Gradkowski officially forwarded the rector's insigniato prof. dr hab. Marian Ursel – the present Rector of Karkonosze College. The host in his opening speech underlined the importance of working with young people and the main goal of the development of the College, mentioning several activities which are planned for the purpose of its modernization. Then he awarded several people for their special merits with regard to KPSW’s development. Matriculation of the students was led by the College’s v-ce Rector: dr inż. Tadeusz Lewandowski. After uttering the words with the oath, the symbolic patting on the shoulder by the ceremonial axe by the Rector and receiving the student’s file, the young people have officially become Students.
This year students have not received traditional „Indeks” books which were replaced with the access to the Virtual Dean’s Office. The leader of the Students’ Self Government - Kornel Musiał – greeted the first year and more advanced students. Several guests took the opportunity to address the audience, including the Vice-Rector of one of the closest international partners of Karkonosze College: Hochschule Zittau-Goerlitz. Professor Christa Maria Heidger congratulated the newly elected rector and thanked for the long-standing and pleasant co-operation with the former Rector of Karkonosze College, prof. dr hab. inż. Tomasz Winnicki. The opening ceremony was closed by the lecture of prof. dr hab. Henryk Gradkowski entitled.: „ Mickiewicz and Norwid”, about two of the most important Polish poets of the Romanticism period.
